Arthur Ewart Wilson was born in North Carolina on April 1, 1890. Wilson, a grandson of mountain guide "Big Tom" Wilson, was proprietor of the Mt. Mitchell Inn and operated a hunting outfitter in Yancey County. He died in Burnsville (Yancey County) on August 9, 1975. During the course of his life, he preferred and often went by his middle name, Ewart.
