Biographical Description
Gaston Basil Deyton was born in Yancey County, North Carolina, on July 30, 1857. Deyton was a farmer who served as a member of the Mount Mitchell Commission (appointed 1915), superintendent of public instruction in Yancey (1907-1913), and as a representative of that county in the legislature. He died in Yancey County on September 24, 1946.
