William Blaine Hays was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina, on April 24, 1891. Hays spent most of his career as a farmer, working on his family’s farm in Reddies River. He later worked as a salesman for Red Top, the local Coca-Cola bottling plant. Hays died at his home in Wilkes County on February 9, 1951.
