Biographical Description

Thornton Sylvester McNeil was born in Purlear (Wilkes County), North Carolina, on December 25, 1860. McNeil was the owner of Red Top Bottling, a Coca-Cola bottling plant in Wilkes County, which he founded in 1909. He died of influenza during the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic on January 13, 1919.
