Biographical Description

William Ford (1744-1837) was a resident of Chowan County. In 1778 he signed an oath swearing his allegiance to the State of North Carolina and promised to report any treasonous conspiracies that might threaten North Carolina's independence. In November 1778 he was drafted into the Chowan County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia and was honorably discharged in 1781.
