Jacob Jordan (d. 1795) was a justice of the peace in Chowan County. In 1777 & 1778 he signed two oaths swearing his allegiance to the State of North Carolina and promised to report any treasonous conspiracies that might threaten North Carolina's independence. At one point he may have refused to sign one of these oaths, or the Jacob Jordan that refused could be a different person. Later he continued to support the cause of independence and received compensation from the state government for supplying the Continental Army with foodstuffs.
