Bird Land was a resident of Tyrrell County. In 1777 he swore three oaths and became a member of the Gourd Patch Conspiracy. He later gave a sworn deposition about his involvement in the plot and appeared on a list of witnesses at the Edenton District Court of Oyer and Terminer with evidence against Daniel Leggett.
