Shadrack Fulcher was a Lieutenant in the Craven County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia. In July 1777 Lt. Fulcher and a group of men under his command went from Craven County to Ocracoke Island in pursuit of William Brimage, a prominent co-conspirator in the Gourd Patch Affair who was attempting to flee the state. Before Fulcher could locate Brimage, Brimage was apprehended on Roanoke Island.
