Biographical Description
Michael Smith (1698-circa 1771) was an Ireland-born ordained Anglican minister and poet. Following a rough patch in South Carolina, Smith relocated to coastal North Carolina where he served the congregations of Wilmington and New Bern until relieved of his duties in 1759.
