James "Jimmy" Ellis Malone, Jr., was born on June 17, 1895, in Louisburg, North Carolina. During World War I, Malone served as the enrolling clerk for the administration of the draft in North Carolina. In June 1918, he resigned his position as enrolling clerk to accept an assignment with the Spruce Production Division of the U. S. Army. He died on April 20, 1962, in Salisbury (Rowan County). For much of his life, he was an attorney in Louisburg.
