Edgar Walter Timberlake was born on July 4, 1854, in Franklin County, North Carolina. Timberlake was an attorney who served as superior court judge for the fourth judicial district for eight years. During World War I, he served on the Wake County Exemption Board. Timberlake died in Wake Forest (Wake County) on January 2, 1933.
