Louis Toomer Moore was born on May 17, 1885, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Moore was a journalist and author who served as the secretary of the Rotary Club of Wilmington, manager of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce (1921-1941), chairman of the New Hanover County Historical Commission (1947-1961), and a found of the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society. He died in Wilmington on November 30, 1961.
