William Faison Murphy was born on May 5, 1872, near Taylors Bridge, North Carolina. Murphy was a farmer in Wallace, North Carolina, who served as chairman of the Duplin County Exemption Board during World War I. He died in Wallace (Duplin County) on September 10, 1932.
