Frank Page was born on February 22, 1875, in Cary, North Carolina. Page was an industrialist and banker who is credited as being the father of the state's modern highway system. Following his service as an engineer in World War I, Page was appointed by Gov. Thomas W. Bickett as the chairman of the newly organized North Carolina Highway Commission, an office he held for ten years. He died in Raleigh on December 20, 1934.
