At a Supreme Court of Justice Oyer and Terminer and General Goal Delivery began and held at Edenton on the Second Tuesday in October in the Thirtieth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second now King of Great Britain (and so forth) for the Countys of Currituck Pasquotank, Perquimans Chowan, Bertie and Tyrrell before the Honourable Peter Henley Esquire Cheif Justice of the Province aforesd.

The Jurors for our Lord the King upon their oath present that James Strawberry an Indian Labourer late of Society ^parish^ in the County of Bertie Labourer not having the fear of God before his Eyes but being moved and seduced by the Instigation of the Devil on the Twenty fourth day of may in the Thirtieth year of the Reign of our Sovereign of our Sovereign Lord George now King of Great Britain (and so forth) about the Hour of three in the afternoon of the same Day at Society Parish aforesaid in the Province aforesaid with force and Arms made an assault in and upon Elizabeth Knott then and there being in the Peace of God and of our said Lord the King and that the said James Strawberry at Society Parish aforesaid in the County aforesaid did feloniously willfully and of his Malice & forethought Strike and wound the said Elizabeth Knott with a Light wood Knott of the pine of six pence sterling money which the said James Strawberry had and held then and there in his Right Hand and did feloniously and of his Malice forethought at Society parish aforesaid in the County aforesaid Give to the said Elizabeth Knot three mortal wounds with a Light wood Knott aforesaid in and upon the back part of her Head off the length of one Inch and off the Depth of one Inch of which said Mortal Wounds the said Elizabeth Knot at Society Parish aforesaid in the County aforesaid Instantly died and so the said Jurors upon their Oath aforesaid Say that the said James Strawberry on the said Twenty fourth day of May in the year above mentioned at Society Parish aforesaid in the County aforesaid did feloniously wilfully and of his Malice forethought, kill and murder the said Elizabeth Knot in Manner and form aforesaid against the Peace of our said Lord the King His Crown and Dignity
