Wadesborough November 7th. 1839
Yours of the 27th of June last was handed me by Mr Rufus R Johnson agent for my consideration respecting the prog. of the claim of Huldy Hill widow of John Hill Decd A soldier of the revolution, claiming a Pension for the services of her Deaceased husband. The claimant is my mother and has resided with me for years past. The buisness done where by the Justice of the peace & agent was in preasance of the widow & my self, it appears all the proof respecting the buisness has ben sent ^to^ your office for consideration. Proof that once could be had time has carried beyond the reach of the living and the claimant must Soon go the way others has gone. I have conversed a great deal with my mother respecting proof she states there is no further. She says her husband was not a man of sturday habits in his youth that he commenced his register some years after the close of the war how long she does not recollect. He has handed it down in the family I have now the fa family register in my possession and there has ben A copy taken by a lawful officer of the State and sent you acknowledge the same. There has ben no law or regulation of my recolection in this State requiring family mariages, Births or deaths to be deposited in any office. There who have any register it belongs to the family alone. I shall keep my farthers register and hand it down ^in my family^ as he has done. The claimant is far advanced in years and very infirm I would be glad for you to let Mr Rufus R Johnson the agent for the claimant know your decision as soon as convenient,
I am Sir your Most obt servat
