Sir,
The King having been graciously pleased to grant Mr Pitt's Request to retire from Business, & to appoint Me to be Secretary of State for the Southern Department, I take the earliest Opportunity to acquaint you therewith, & to desire that You would be pleased, for the future, to address your Letters to Me, which I shall not fail to lay immediately before the King, and to transmit to you such Orders as His Majesty shall judge proper to give thereupon.
I have at present only to add for your Information, that this Change will not occasion any Alteration in the King's Measures, particularly with regard to the vigorous prosecution of the War.
