New York, 28th December 1762
Sir,
Colony of Virginia | Colonel Bouquet having Represented to me, that he has great Reason to think there are many Deserters from the 1st Battalion Royal Americans Lurking in the Province of North Carolina, I have Directed him to Send Ensign Hutchins in Search of them; And as he may, while he is on that Service, perhaps be able to pick up Some Recruits for the Battalion, I have furnished him with a Beating Order for that purpose; And must Request you will be pleased to give him all the Countenance and Assistance in your Power, not only for Apprehending and Securing the Deserters; but for Enabling him to meet with Success in the Recruiting Service— |
I am, with great Regard,
Sir &ca.
N.B. The Like Letter to Lt. Govr. Fauquier, Virginia.
