Our Will & Pleasure is that you forthwith prepare a Bill for Our Royal Signature to pass Our Privy Seal in these Words or to this Effect.
George the 3d by the Grace of God King of Great Britain France & Ireland Defender of the Faith & so forth To the Commrs. of Our Treasury now being, & to Our High Treasurer, Chancellor & Under Treasurer of Our Exchequer or Commrs. of Our Treasury for the time being Greeting, Whereas by Letters Patent under Our Great Seal of Great Britain bearing date the 4th day of April in the First year of Our Reign We have Constituted & Appointed Our Trusty & Welbeloved Arthur Dobbs Esqr. to be Our Captn. Genl. & Governor in Chief in & Over Our Province of North Carolina in America <Privy Seal bears date the 3d. day of July 1761> And Whereas the King Our late Royal Grandfather of glorious & happy Memory by his Letters of Privy Seal dated the 30th. day of May 1754 did Direct a yearly Allowance or Salary of £1,000, to be paid at the Receipt of his Exchequer out of the Monies which should arise there for the Duty of 4 & ½ ⅌ Ct. unto the said Arthur Dobbs who had been appointed by his said late Majesty his Captn. General & Governor in Chief of the said Province during time as he the said Arthur Dobbs should continue in the said Office or until his said late Majesty should by Warrant under his Royal Sign Manual signify his pleasure to the contrary which said yearly Salary of £1,000 so made payable to the said Arthur Dobbs (in lieu of a like Salary which had been established for the Governor of North Carolina out of the Quit Rents of the said Province) was by Our said Royal Grandfather intended to Enable the said Arthur Dobbs to execute his Commission & the Instructions given him thereby for his said late Majys. Honour & Suitably to the dignity of the said Office Now We graciously intending to continue the payment of the said yearly Allowance or Salary unto the said Arthur Dobbs in like manner as the same was payable by the said Letters of Privy Seal Our Will & Pleasure is & We do hereby Direct Authorise & Command that out of any Monies that are or shall be & remain in the Receipt of Our Exchequer arisen for or upon Account of the Duty of 4 & ½ ⅌ Ct. you do issue & pay or cause to be issued & paid unto the said Arthur Dobbs or to his Assignes the yearly Allowance or Salary of £1,000, in respect of the said Office (And in lieu of a like Salary formerly payable as aforesaid to the Governor of that Province out of the Quit rents thereof) to enable him to execute his said Commission &, the Instructions thereby given him for Our Honour & Suitably to the dignity of the said Office the same to Commence from the 25th. day of Octor. 1760 & from thenceforth to be payable & paid Quarterly by even & equal portions during such time as he shall continue in the said Office, or Until We shall by any Warrant under Our Royal Sign Manual to be countersigned by the Commrs. of Our Treasury or High Treasurer for the time being signify Our pleasure for determining the same all which payments are to be made to the said Arthur Dobbs or to his Assignes, without Accot. Imprest or other Charge to be set upon him in Our Exchequer for the same And these Our Letters & so forth Given & so forth
And for so doing this shall be your Warrant Given at Our Court at St. James's this 28 day of May 1761 in the First year of Our Reign
