J. C. Pritchard
UNITED STATES CIRCUIT JUDGE
FEDERAL BUILDING
ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

My dear Governor Bickett:

I read with much interest your statement in the paper as respects the proposed organization known as the K. K. K's.

I think you are quite right in designating this as a visionary scheme. Indeed, I think it is patent to every thoughtful person it is nothing more than a rank wildcat scheme, one that should be exposed promptly. I think your statement in regard to the races, is admirable in every respect. What you say indicates a broad scope of vision and is in harmony with your official acts.

I am sure you would be greatly pleased if you knew of the many expressions of approval I heard coming from Democrats and Republicans as I came to my office this morning. I told my friend, Judge Woods, that I was very proud of you as the Governor of our State and that you are making one of the finest Governors North Carolina has ever had. Indeed, I think you will fill the office more acceptably than anyone we have had since the late Civil War. You have my highest esteem and hearty support as our Chief Executive.

With best wishes for you and your excellent wife, in which my wife joins, I have the honor to be,

Sincerely yours,
