Mr. Frank M. Wooten,
Greenville, N.C.

My dear Mr. Wooten:-

I would greatly like to see the indictment against Capt. Laughinghouse quashed. I used every effort possible to this end. I went so far as to call up the Attorney General in person on the phone. At one time the case was discontinued, but afterwards the Attorney General wrote me a letter saying that he felt compelled to insist that the prosecutoon should be pushed, and in the face of that letter it would be very embarrassing to me to make any efforts to have the prosecution discontinued. I am sorry but I cannot help it.

Very truly yours,

[unsigned]
