My dear Col. Pearsall:-
I certainly appreciate your kind letter of July 1st. You will be interested to know that twenty delinquents and deserters have come up and voluntarily surrendered in Ashe county, and I am advised that these are all that are to be found in that county. Some others are charged against the county but they have fled to quarters unknown. The clean up in Ashe seems to be complete.
