Gov. Walter E. Bickett.
Dear sir,
I am in selective draft under serial no 5 order no. 272 and filed dependent claim with local Board Stanly county for wife, father and mother. Age 60 and 51 years. Which am their only dependence, and was placed in class one (1) the members of said Bord failed to mail my class card and I called for it at their office which was 3 days late to appeal to Destrict Bord. but I did and I desire to know of you if there be any chance yet, and in what way? I take you to be a real Gov. your face is familiar, but have no personal acquaintance. I am formerly of your home county Union and took delight in supporting you and bet to advise that your, assistance would be greatly appreciated. I am not working to escape because I’m better than other men but they have classed others higher then me that their dependance are in much better condition and I do crave justice.
My parents are in bad health and am trying to make their support on my farm and without me they can’t make it. I have no children are Brothers and sisters to work for them and can give all proof necessary to my condition so please let me have your advice. Hope I’ve not worried you.
Await your reply with pleasure and hope to remain yours very truly
