December 20th, 1917.
Mr. John T. Benbow,
Winston-Salem, N.C.
My dear Mr. Benbow:-
Mrs. Chester F. Vogler handed me your letter of December 19th in regard to her husband who is at Camp Jackson, and I assure you that I was delighted to serve her both for your sake and hers and dear old Yadkin’s.
On investigation I find that the name of Chester F. Vogler was on the list forwarded by the Governor to the Secretary of War several days ago with the request and recommendation that he be discharged along with about three hundred others. I feel sure that the War Department will grant all these discharges, but it may be several days yet before the men are released.
With best wishes for a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year, I am,
Very truly yours,
