Dear Governor,
I write to thank and congratulate you on your address to all the people of North Carolina, and to comend you for your suggestion in regard to baseball and joy-riding. You hit the nail on the head with both licks.
Patriotism demands service and all the people ought to be willing to serve. There is something for all to do, in the field, in the shop or in the army, in the field the [illegible] most important just now, to make something to live on. If we can furnish a plenty to eat all the time, we can and will win.
Yours Truly J. H. Currie
