In Obedience to Your Pre[illegible] have the Lists of the Militia for Tyrrel County inclosed, [and] I have hitherto been able to get Your orders obeyed, which we[re] Delivered to me; till the Day before I was oblidged to set out [for this] place so that Capt. William Everet hath not sent me his list; W[hen] I receive it I shall not fail to Transmit it to Your Excellency as soon as Possable I hope You will not impute it to me as a f[illegible] that my list is Imperfect, the Colonel of my County being Dead the Leuetenant Colonel and Major, having Neglected to Ac[t] [illegible] thought it notwithstanding, my Duty to Comply with Your Excellency's Commands as soon as I was made A[illegible] [illegible] and as [illegible] [illegible] the Time [illegible].
We have Neither Armes nor [Ammun]ition, nor are the[re] [illegible] in this County, as to any Regulations about our Militia, This being now Devolved on me, I must Inform Your Excellency the Leuetenant Colonel and Major of the Regiment have never Qualified themselves for their Respective Posts partly from Neglect, and partly from Unwillingness to Act, I am sorry [that] I find myself obliged to give Your Excellency this Account. I am the Eldest Captain not only in this but in all the [illegible] County's and therefore imagining myself to have some [illegible] Title to an advancement, I should be Glad to serve the Publick in another Station if agreeable to Your Excellency.
I have the Honour to be
Sir your Most Devoted
and
Most Obedt. Humble. Servt.
