Sir,
I take the opportunity of an Express returning from Charles Town to Governor Fauquier, to inclose this to him, to be forwarded to You with Safety & dispatch to Acquaint You that our new Assembly have met this day, and I make no Doubt will raise a Regiment of at least 500 Men to Act for His Majesty's Service wherever required, and until I know, where they are to Rendezvous, will raise, and send them to the Western Frontiers, to act against the Cherokees, untill I have Information from You Where they are to be employed as I am Convinced they will be all under Your Command I am Sorry I had so short warning, that I could not Assemble our Representatives sooner; we shall be in great want of Arms having no good ones for half the Number I expect to raise; therefore must press You to let me know, Where those Sent from England, as by Mr. Pitt's Letter, may be had, and if it should so happen that You don't Command upon the intended Expedition that You would inform Genl. Amherst of our want of Arms & Intelligence, we have had two Small Engagemts. with the Cherokees, and have killed about 8 or 10, and have Since got 10 Scalps brought down here. I Shall be pleased to find my old Friend, is to Command in this & Our Neighbouring provinces, and to Assist in giving the Coup de Grace, to the French Dominion in America, And then return to England with American Laurells.

Enclosed in Brigr. Genl. Monckton's To General Amherst 23d. May 1760. Acquainting him of the Assembly of North Carolina having Voted provision for 500 Men to Act for His Majesty's Service, and that he should, untill he knew where the Rendezvous would be, Raise & Send them to the Western Frontiers to Act agst. the Cherokees.
