Dr. John McCampbell,
Morganton, N.C.

My dear Dr. McCampbell:-

Enclosed find a letter to Chairman Brown, which explains itself. I hope that you can co-operate in solving this distressing situation. As I have said to Dr. Anderson I want to say to you, that I want you to admit every patient to Morganton for whom you can find a bed or a cot absolutely regardless of the amount of your appropriation. The State is definitely committed to the policy of taking care of all the insane in the State, and I want every worthy case to be admitted regardless of expense. I had expected to be at Morganton about this time. My wife expected to be with me and we wanted to spend at least one day in your institution, but we are water bound and I am afraid now that we will have to forego that trip until some time in the early fall.

With assurances of my very kindest regards, I beg to remain,

Sincerely yours,

[unsigned]
