Gov. T. W. Bicket
Raleig N.C.

Dear Gov.

I listened to your speech at Pittsboro N. C. A few days ago with undivided attention And one part of it impressed me and that part I have given serious thought.

It was what you said in regard to the Blockade whiskey crowd. I do think that Chatham county is cursed with the worst element of blockaders, in N. C. and it does seem that every effort that the good people can put forth, has been resorted to, to no avail, And if two or three men who are of the proper age was carried to the front, instead of some who it now seems will have to go, would be a god sent blessing. They are of no good to the community, and a curse to mankind, as they are known by the public in general as notorious whiskey dealers and whiskey manufacturers. The parties to whom I here refer is Lou H. Petty1, Billie Brown, and Elmer Perry, all of Hadley Township, Chatham Co NC. There are others, but these are bold and long offenders. And are well known to Dr. L. E. Farthing member of Local board for Chatham county N.C., And as for reference to myself, you may, consult J. W. Johnson Registrar of Deed, Pittsboro NC. J. L. Griffin Pittsboro, who is C. S. C. Sheriff Leon L Lane of Pittsboro N.C. I am loathe to make recommendation, though I believe it for real good.

Yours truly,

Confidential
