Mr. O. D. Carpenter,
Worth, N.C.

My dear Mr. Carpenter:-

I sympathize deeply with you in your labor troubles. I sympathize with everybody, including myself. Of course, I cannot hope to offer a solution for every local trouble that may arise. All that I can do is to lay down certain fundamental principles. This I have done with respect to the Charlotte situation, the Badin situation and the High Point situation. I have said everything that it is possible for me to say on the subject, and all that I have said has been published in the press.

Trusting that you may be able to oil your troubles so as to have the least friction possible, I beg to remain,

Sincerely yours,

[unsigned]
