Hon. T. W. Bickett,
Governor of North Carolina,
Raleigh, N.C.

Dear Sir:-

Permit me to congratulate you upon your clear cut statement which appeared in the Charlotte Observer last week concerning the textile strikers in Charlotte. No unprejudiced mind can gainsay the position you took in this statement in favor of the open shop, and the right of any man to freely contract with any other man to freely contract with any other man to earn his daily bread by the sweat of his brow, without reference to whether he is a union, or non-union, laborer.

Your strong, unequivocal position in favor of enforcing this right, in my opinion, had the effect of settling the labor differences here which at one time bid fair to get beyond the control of the local authorities.

Yours very truly,

ETC-B
