On this thirtieth day of October in the year of our Lord on thousand eight hundred and forty two before the Subscriber one of the Judges of the County Commissioner's Court in and for said County the same being a court of Record personally appeared Rosana Murray a resident of said county aged Eighty Five years who being first duly sworn according to Law doth on Her oath make the following Declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress passed July 4 1836, that she is the widow of John B. Murray who was a private in the Army during the War of Revolution—that her husband served different terms of duty in the time of the War—that he served a tour of three months under Captain Thomas Whitson the above She thinks the above tour of three months was in the year 1775 or 1776 that her said husband after ward a tour of ten months as a mounted Ranger under General Sumpter a part of it in North Carolina and a part in South Carolina. The three month tour above spoken of was in North Carolina—that This tour of ten month She Knows of his serving—that he was in the Battle at Orangeburg S.C. and laid sick for a time at that place and that she then being his Wife went to Oranageburg where he was sick as aforesaid to see and to Name and take care of him. She says that he said husband served a tour of three months under Colonel Charles McDowell previous to the said tour of ten months. She furthe Declares that She was married to the said John B. Murray same time in the year Seventeen hundred and Seventy Six in Berks County North Carolina She cannot tell the day or month on which She was married—that the first child she had after the marriage aforesaid was born on the 14th day of October Seventeen hundred and Seventy Seven as appear by the family Record which she virely believes is true and is in the hand writing of her husband the said John B Murray and that her husband the aforesaid John B. Murray died on the thirty first day of January Eighteen hundred and twenty eight and that She has remained a widow ever since that period as will more fully appear by reference to the proof hereto annexed.
