Sir

I had too dayes ago the favour of yours of Septr 7th I am Extremly obliged to you for the care you were so good as to take of My letter and do most sincerly Join with you in my Prayers to Almighty God for his Protection to those Provinces and that as one instanc of it he will give as unanimity that we may all act as one man for the good of the whole.

I have had such a Multoplicity of business of late that it has not been in my power to write to aquaind you with the Stepes I have taken as to the Companyes you sent with the Major

I aquanted your Son with your letter to me proposing to Deliver them over to the American Regt. but when he went back to the Companys he found the Men extremly Averse and it was Proposed to me to Draft them as I had your Consent but I thought that Measure would look Violent and deter all Provinceal Troopes from Joining the Regular Troops therefore thought it more advisable to lett them Return with the Major and leave it to your Prudenc to mange that affair after they Return and I shall send Officers to Receve such as you can assert as in getting and to Rais Recruts. I even am with most Sincer Regrad

Govr: Dobbs.
28th: October.
