I Had this morning by the Express returning from your Excelly. to Virginia a Message from you that the Embargo Still Continued on South Carolina, and to Know from me whether any order had Come to take if off here. 

I acquainted you in my last that a vessel had come in here from the northward, upon which and accounts from verginia Pensylvania and New-york that upon the Sailing of the fleet from Halifax to Lewisburg I immediately as the Reason for the Embargo Ceased, took of the Embargo—for I Expected as Genl. Abercromby had proceeded on beyond Albany and the Embargo was over at New york that as he was taken up with the greater Matters he had forgot or neglected Sending particular ordrs. to the Southern Governments. I therefore think you will have no particular ordrs. Sent to you as he Expects when the Cause Ceases we shall follow the Example of the Northern Colonies. I hear from verginia that our Troops were landed Safe and had taken 2 Forts upon their Landing which obstructed their Landing with the Loss of 500 men, but no mention is made how the advice Came. The Express also told me that you delayd writing to me till what I wrote about was Enquired into.
