Sir,

I Have Yesterday received Your Duplicate of the 24th. of April, the Original of which is not yet come to hand, Acquainting me of the Measures You had taken with Your Assembly, for Raising a Number of Troops, according to His Majesty's Requisition, on the Receipt of my Letter of the 15th. of March; In Consequence of which, I, with pleasure, See they Raise a Regiment of Five Companies, of One hundred Men Each, Exclusive of Officers; besides a Company of Fifty Men, to be Continued for the Defence of the Frontiers; and that the Regiment is put under my Command, to be sent any where out of the Province.

I Hope the said Regiment will be Compleated before the End of this Month; and as You very properly Intended to Order as many as were ready to Rendezvous where required, and to March wherever they might be Commanded; and that my former Letters to You fully Informed You of the Intended Destination of the Troops that might be Raised in the Province where You preside, I doubt not but You will have Ordered them to Joyn with the utmost Expedition, the Virginia Forces, under the Command of Colonel Byrd; and if any of the said Regiment should be yet remaining when this Arrives at Your hands, I must beg You will Order them to Joyn Colonel Byrd as fast as may be.

I Doubt not but You will have given Lt. Governor Fauquier Information of the Troops that were to be Raised in Your Province, and the time that he might Expect they would be able to Joyn Colonel Byrd.

I Shall take care to forward Your Dispatches to the Board of Trade, by the first Man of War, or Packett, that may Sail from New York.

I am to Own the Receipt of Your Letter of the 20th. of March, which I was favored with some time since, Acquainting me of the proper Rejoycings You had had on His Majesty being proclaimed in Your Province: There was Nothing that required an Immediate Answer, or I should have Owned it sooner.

I am, with great Regard,

Sir,

&ca
