<Govr. Dobbs to restore Mr. Rutherfd. to his place in No. America.>

Sir

The Lords Commrs. of his Matys Treasury having had under their Considerat. the Matter of your Complaint against and Suspension from his Office of Jno. Rutherford Esqr. Whom his Maty had appointd. the Recr. Genl. of his Quit Rents in North Carolina have ordered me to acquaint you with their Opinion that the said Jno. Rutherford should be forthwith restored to the exercise of the said Office.

At the same time that their Lordships think themselves bound to take this Measure, as appearing to them due in point of Justice to Mr. Rutherford. Yet they would by all Means in their power discourage every factious opposition to you in your Governmt. and therefore have signified to Mr. Rutherford that they shall not fail to resent his behaviour in a proper manner if he gives you any Just Cause of Complaint against him I am &c. 1st Augst. 1759.
