The Local Exemption Board,
Albemarle, N.C.

Gentlemen:-

Mr. J. R. Overton of Stanly is the apothecary in the State Prison. This is technical work that requires a trained man and is work that is absolutely essential to the health of the prisoners. The State Prison advises that it is unable to get any one to take Mr. Overton’s place, and is therefore asking that he be given a deferred classification, and I earnestly trust that you will make a recommendation to this effect. I will say that thirty-six employees of the State Prison have entered the service, and this is the only case in which the Prison has asked for a deferred classification.

Very truly yours,

Governor.
