To His Excellency T. W. Bickett,
Governor of North Carolina,
Raleigh, N.C.

Dear Governor:-

Some trouble has arisen between the Local Exemption Boad of this City and the District Exemption Board. It seems that appeals have been taken to the District Board from the classification of registrants by the Local Board on account of dependents.

I hope you can devise some plan by which this trouble will not exist. I have noticed the work of the Local Board from time to time. It has worked very faithfully and conscientiously and has made every effort to properly classify the registrants who cliam certain classifications on account of having dependents. I am satisfied that the Board has done its work with a great deal of care, painstaking and very conscientiously I do not think that the District Board ought to interfere with the classifications made on this account and thereby cause the registrants to become dissatisfied and will put them to the trouble of appealing to the President. This is not time to do things which would dissatisfy the public generally. I hope you can use your influence to avoid this trouble, if possible.

I have no interest in the matter whatever except that of a loyal citizen. I want to see satisfaction on the part of the people and a strong sympathy maintained with the Administration.

Yours very sincerely,
