Sir

The Lords think the Trade of No. Carolina is officially protected. I have received and read to my Lords Commissrs. of the Admty the Memorial sign'd by you and the Council of No. Carolina setting forth your Apprehensions for the Trade of that Province, from it's present defenceless Situation, and praying for a Sufficient Force to protect the same, and in return I am commanded by their Lordships to acquaint you, for the Information of the Gentlemen concern'd, that as the Baltimore is particularly appropriated to protect the Trade of No. Carolina, and there are two Twenty Gun Ships and a Sloop attending on So. Carolina besides the Jamaica Sloop at the Bahama Islands, the Commanders of which have Instructions, to repair to the assistance of the Baltimore whenever her Captain shall require them against a Superior Force of the Enemy, they are of opinion the Trade of that Province, need be under no Apprehensions of Danger.

I am &ca.
