To The District Board for Western North Carolina,
Statesville, N.C.

Gentlemen,-

Registrant William Arthur Mullen Order No. 215, Serial Number 814, is in the office of this board and states that he has been shown the papers in his case in your office, including the confidential statement of reasons filed by this board along with his case, and registrant states that party who showed him these papers in your office suggested he secure from us a further statement.

Our records show that we filed with this case the following statement of reasons, to-wit:

“Reasons: Man has only one child; husband’s parents in first class financial circumstances and can provide good home for family either with or without army pay, and from our investigation and personal knowledge of the circumstances of this case we are confident that the registrant’s family will be well cared for in case of his absence.”

This board was of the candid and honest opinion that the above was a brief and approximately correct statement of the conditions.

Yours truly,

Local Board for Lincoln County.
